Selva is a small municipality of just 3,000 population which is in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountain range. The name “Selva” is first mentioned as an Arab farm (alcheria Xilva) in 1232.
Its town of the same name lies just north west of Inca, in a small clutch of villages (Caimari, Moscari, Biniamar and Binibona).
Surrounded by lovely countryside, it’s easy to overlook the town as the approach dives up a hill on its north side, but it’s well worth a look for its traditional stone houses, church square and local streets.
There’s a weekly market on Wednesdays with fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers as well as annual fairs and festivals. The Fair of La Creu takes place in May, the Fair of Ses Herbes in June and the Fiesta of Sant Llorenc in August, which is a week long celebration.
Many of its properties have super views over farmsteads and almond orchards which are delightful in spring and attract many visitors. There are also many ancient olive trees in the area. The area is perfect for walking, hiking and cycling.
